DEATH OF MRS. STEPHEN OXNAM
A very old resident of Fairburn died at the residence of her son and daughter at Mangonui on Sunday, she having been in failing health for some time.
When the kauri timber trade was flourishing in Mangonui at the end of the ’Bos, Mr. Oxnam was in the employment of the Kauri Timber Co. there for some years. About forty years ago the family settled in Fairburn, having a section on the Mangatoitoi road, where Mr. Oxnam died some years ago, and later Mrs. Oxnam went to live with her son and daughter at Mangonui. She was of a somewhat retiring disposition, but was noted and well liked for her cheerful and kindly disposition. She had reached the advanced age of 90 years last January. The funeral took place on Tuesday at Fairburn, where Mrs. Oxnam was buried by the side of her husband.
Mrs. Oxnam is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Henry White, Victoria Valley, Mrs. T. B. Harris and Miss Oxnam, Mangonui, and one son, Mr. S. Oxnam, Mangonui.
