CHILDREN’S BALL
IN AID OF SPORTS FUND A Children’s Ball, the proceeds from which are to be donated to the School Sports fund, was held at’the Fairburn Hall on Thursday evening last. The hall was filled to its capacity, kndthe sum of £ls was taken at the door. Mesdames Hicks, P. Atkinson, and W. S. Stevens acted as judges, and Mr. W. J. Christensen was the M.C. The Versatile Trio played the dance music and were accorded a rousing reception. At 9.30 supper was served to the children and on resuming the grown-ups took the floor. Prizes were awarded as follows — Ruby Christensen, best hired costume. Joan McCarthy, most original. Audrey Christensen and Richmond Coulter tied for best home made costume. Olive Thomas best visitor’s costume. Joyce Christensen and Willie Larkins won the Monte Carlo waltz. Mr. Hilton, head master, thanked all those who had co-operated with the teachers in making the function a success. Mr. T. J.
