MANGONUI RUGBY UNION.
GENERAL MEETING HELD. DRAW FOR FIRST ROUND. An unusually large attendance marked the holding of a general meeting of the Mangonui Rugby Union held in Foster’s Rooms on Monday evening. Mr. J. T. Clarke presided. At a special meeting held prior to the general meeting it was de cided on the motion of Mr. W. Thompson, to rescind Rule 16, which debars junior teams from. Dlaying unless their clubs have senior teams also competing. It was decided to increase the percentage to be allocated to clubs from the proceeds of the North Auckland Queen Carnival from 10 to 15 per cent, of the local union’s share. Draw For Opening Bay "Jhe following draw was fixed to the opening of the season’s competition on Saturday week, April 26, the team on whose ground the match is to be played being mentioned first: — Seniors Awanui v Pamapuria ; Kaitaia v Houhora. Juniors. Kaitaia v Waioap; Valley v Pamapuria; Awanui v Herekino; Kaingaroa a bye. General. The appointment of a committee to deal with applications for re-grading from senior to junior was deferred for consideration at a meeting to be held next Monday evening. Mr. K. C. Stewart was appointed honorary solicitor to the union.
