KAITAIA BOY SCOUTS.
OLD SCOUTS GIVE HELP IMPROVEMENT IN TROOP. UNION JACK PRESENTED. Scoutmaster N. Wilkinson and the Kaitaia troop as a whole have been fortunate in securing the help of two very efficient assis-tant-scoutmasters in the persons of Mr. A. S. Saunders, one of the first scouts in New Zealand and an old scoutmaster, and Mr. Eric Hansen, who has the distinction of being a King’s Scout. The energetic manner in which they have taken up their work is reflected in an evident improvement in the work of the troop. This week Mr. H. Dacre presented the troop with a Union Jack
CAMPING EQUIPMENT NEEDED. PLEA FOR ASSISTANCE.
So far the boys in the Kaitaia troop have worked with little outside assistance, securing bv their own efforts the money to pay for uniforms and other equipment. A proposal is on foot to hold a week’s or ten days’ camp, and funds are urgently required for the purchase of tents and other camp equipment. Mr. A. E. Hollay, chairman of the committee, will be very glad to get into touch with anyone who is sufficiently interested to help financially. The proposed camp will be more than a holiday for the boys. Jamborees are to be held when the Chief Scout, Sir Robert Baden Powell, visits New Zealand next year, and the committee and Scoutmaster hope to prepare a division to attend one of the meetings.
