CRICKETER AND TENNIS PLAYER.

CONSTABLE E. BUCKLEY. ACQUISITION TO SPORT. Constable E. Buckley, formerly of Auckland, who now fills the position left vacant by the transfer of Constable P, O’Gorman to Christchurch, will be welcomed by the district as a valuable man on and off duty. Constable Buckley joined the police force in 1923, and for more than two years was Court Orderly in the Auckland Police Court, where more business is transacted than in any other Magisterial Court in New Zealand. In the course of his duties as orderly Mr. Buckley has gained a useful knowledge of magisterial law, particularly in regard to the Licensing and Gaming Acts. The world of sport will also appreciate Mr. Buckley. In Auckland he was captain of the Highland Tennis Club, a young club which he ably piloted through the first seasons of Us existence, and his tennis racquet was probably one of his first possessions packed. He also nlayed cricket some years ago when in Maunganui, and although tennis is*now his favourite sport, it is possible that he may on occasion be persuaded to forsake the racquet for the bat.

Constable Buckley is married, with one child.
