Mother Saves Son
Maori Woman’s Promptness
But tor the presence of mind of his mother, who jumped out of a gig and pulled him from beneath the horse’s hoofs, a young Maori boy might have been seriously injured after he had been thrown from the gig when it collided with a delivery van at Hawera recently. The horse, when struck, went down on its knees, and the boy was thrown out of the gig and fell behind its rear hoots, B 'fore it had clambered to iis feet the mother had jumped out of the gig and pulled the boy away. Beyond a grazed knee and shock he was uninjured. The horse was subsequently destroyed.
