Incident Of Big Flood

Owing to four hours of torrential rainfall in Merionethshire serious damage was done by floods in August. All motor traffic was suspended as the roads were impassable. Motorists were stranded for hours at near Barmouth, where the river overflowed, flooding the houses. Fish were seen jumping along the main roads. Bus services from Maentwrog to Blaenal Festiniog were suspended owing to the water being many feet high along the roads. Fields were like huge lakes, anci farmers waist deep in wafir were rescumg sheep.
