The Northland Age OFFICIAL ORGAN OF THE FARMERS’ UNION. Published on Wednesdays. Price Twopence. WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 5 1928 COMMONSENSE.
rA certain amount of ignorance exists in the minds of many concerning the Country Party. There are those who from ulterior motives are endeavouring to lead the people to believe the “alls well” » in this beautitul country of ours L .and that there is no need for an organisation such as the Country Party. We believe any Party ► that will work for the benefit of the country as a whole, and not for sectional interests will he welcomed by the electors ot New Zealand. It is regrettable that Party propaganda should have poisoned the minds of capable and responsible persons, against rthe best interests ot the country and particularly against the Primary Producers. That the Count y Party is a force to be reckoned with, is evidenced by the fact Ithat at every ce ntre where meetings are held they are followed bv a meeting by some Cabinet Minister or expert on some subject or another. Still another weakness ot the Party in power is its aptitude to dole out promises of almost anything in order to win favour among the electors. However, the tactics adopted by those opposed to the welfare ot the primary producers, and wor- | kers generally, is only aggravatL ing the position and the sooner P these “tools” cf Reform, the misf fils of nature apply the salve of ccmmonsense to their re sonings, the sooner they will cease to be a sore on the face of the Country.
