THE LATE MR GLASS f’ Men and women pass from this earth—some with a record of their achievements that will go down in the annals of the world’s history —others pass unheard of. The record of the late Mr Glass as founder of the New Zealand Farmers Union will be handed down to posterity, and his memory kept ever green in the minds of those who had the pleasure ot being associated with him. It is an untnviable task, organising at any time amongst the Farming community, but with better class roads and quicker means of transport, organising is child’s play to-day, compared with that of thirty years ago. It is no mean acheivement for any man to have to his credit, the formation of an organisation such as the New Zealand Farmer’s Union, which from such a small beginning, today extends its activities over the whole of the Dominion with twenty one Provincial Districts, the Auckland Provincial District alone having a membership of over 6,cco, and is rapidly growing. Any records of the past history of the Farmers Union that were in the possession of late Mr Glass that have not been preserved or recorded are gone lor ever; but not so with the rnstilution he founded, for long after the name of Arthur G C Glass has faded from the memory of the people, Farmers Unionism will still be a brotherhood of the toilers on the land greater than ever it is to-day.
