Commercial Depression In N.S.W.
Unemployment Relief The general commercial depression in New South Wales which recently led to the dosing of a number of mines and other concerns, or which otherwise materially lessened the number of those in employment is seriously augmenting ihe problem of the unemployed. In addition to those workers who have been thrown idle by the closing of works and the redaction in the staffs of various concerns, there are about 12,000 casual unemployed now registered at the State Labour Bureau. The Government is taking steps to provide relief as far as is possible. It has already arranged out relief works of a reproductive character, which will involve an expenditure of £23,000.
