Punakitere Settlement

On December 3rd Col Bell M.P had a further interview with the Minister of Lands re securing the freehold for the Punakitere settlers. The Minister stated that he had now received plans, showing the Crown lands in the Hunua district adjacent to the Auckland City Council’s water reservation area. These, together with the valuation will be sent to the City Council for its consideration, and in order that their engineer may ascertain whether these areas would be suitable for use as water catchment areas. Bhould the exchange he approved it would be necessary to pass special legislation.
