RANGIAWHIA.
(Own Correspondent) An illustrated lantern lecture dealing with management of pastures and forage crops was given by Mr. Hamblyn, of the Fields Instruction Branch, Department of Agriculture in the Rangiawhia Native School on 14th uit. Prior to the lecture Mr. Hamblyn was conducted over the district, and expressed himself as being agreeably surprised with the progress being made on ail sides. During the course of his lecture, he emphasised the necessity to iime sow soil, and dwelt on the benefit of growing blue lupins The settlement was visited at the same time by Mr. Leith Maori Hygiene, Branch of the Health Department, and Mr. W.J. Phillipps, who is attached to the Dominion Museum, Wellington. The visitors were the guesLs of Mr. & Mrs McCully. . On Saturday February 21st, the Gov\ S.S. “Tutauekai” steamed into Doubtless Bay, anchoring just off the Rangiawhia settlement. Capt. Boltons accompanied by officers, and Rev. Mr. Asher of Naaier visited the schooihouse on Sunday, übt “Tutanekai” lelt early on 23id en toute to Awanui harbour and the Cape Lighthouse.
