MR VERNON REED AND THE “NORTHLAND AGE.”
(To the Editor). Sir,—ln view of the opinions expressed in Mr Vernon Reed’s letter, contained in your last weeks issue. I would ask you, to publish the following resolution which was passed at a meeting held in July last. “ That the Directors of the Mangonui News paper Co Ltd views with astonishment the action taken by Mr Vernon Reed, M. P., and fellow Director in that he did not consult with his fellow Directors and officers, of the Company during his recent visit to Kaitaia and discuss matters of vital importance regarding, the Newspaper before allowing his name to be coupled in the secret way it had been and allegedly allying himself with the non-pro-gressive party, which we considera retrogressivesteps which must prove detrimental to the interests of our district.’ / The Directors present at the meeting at which the above resolution was carried unanimously were:—Messrsß. A. Johnston A. H. Long, E. A. Evans, R.T. Wrathafi Colonel Bell and myself. The only Director absent being Mr Reed himself. We know now where Mr Reed stands as far as progress is concerned when he states that in his opinion the “Age” is now being conducted on good lines and a credit to the County. I am, etc. F. HOLDER. Kaitaia Bth Nov 1921.
