ANCIENT RELICS
The following letter from the Curator of the Auckland Museum will be of interest to those who make a study of the history of our district. Auckland Institute and Museum Auckland, New Zealand, 20th October, 1921 Colonel Allen Bell, Kaitaia, Dear Sir, On behalf of the Auckland Museum, I have to thank you for so very kindly forwarding the curious relic found on Mr. W. Vickers’ property near Herekino. It is evidently the handle of a kumara weeder, but is doubtless of very great age. It is certainly of interest to us, especially as you state that it was found in a drain similai*to that in which the now celebrated Pukepoto Lintel was found. We shall always be glad to hear about recent Maori finds, or to receive such from your district. With very many thanks, I remain, yours truly, J. F. CHEESEMAN. r -1 II 11 iWI-inilii -v
