THE WHANGAPE HARBOUR.

Captain Kane, master of the s.s. Ohinemuri, is enthusiastic with regard to the proposal to open up the Whangape harbour, in connection with the scheme of development of the Herekino and surrounding districts. Captain Kane has been trading to the port off and on for a period of forty four years, and therefore knows the harbour intimately. He says that the port is quite as easily worked as Hokianga by steamers drawing 12 feet of water, and as Whangape has no bar it is much safer.
