LITTLE FACTS.
The smallest thing with a backbone is the sinara pan, a little fish recently by scients in the Philippine Islands. It measures about half an inch in length. The largest bird is the ostrich sometimes standing eight feet and weighing 300 pounds. The smallest is one species of humming-bird. The smallest reptile is the gecko, a thick-tongued lizard which runs about at night. It averages two inches in length, tail included, and lives in Africa. It can walk on the ceiling. The largest animal of any class is the giant finback whale, which attains a length of nearly a hundred feet. It inhabits the Atlantic Ocean within tha temperate zone.
