Terrible Accident Averted.
PABIB, May 5. It has transpired that when King Edward’s train stopped at Sion, in Switzerland, it was discovered that the grease box belonging to one of the coaches had become detached from the axle and fallen off when the train was running at a speed of 100 kilometres (62 miles) an hour. Had the train restarted a terrible accident must have occurred, as the axle was white hot from friction.
