MISCELLANEOUS HINTS.

Have a good-sized pincushion hanging in a convenient plpce in the kitchen ; supply it plentifully with pins and a threaded needle or two ; you will find that such an arrangement will save you many steps when you want a pin in a hurry, or a button or a towel-loop need repair ing—as often happens. —*!* — Procure a small, open basket and fill it with florist’s moss. In this, sprinkle seeds of curly press ; wet it thoroughly and set in a sunny window, turning the basket every day, and soon it will be filled with living green, making a most beautiful centrepiece for the -table. It should be kept well clipped, and the ends cut off will help as a garnish for meat, or to .make a salad. When dry, dip the basket in warm water for a few moments.

—* — Hair Restorative.— To two parts of the best olive oil, add one of spirits of wine, or of good rum ; put them into a bottle, and shake them well together. With this anoint the head well morning and evening. For the first fortnight it should be well rubbed with a piece of flannel into the parts of the head most affected ; after that time care must be taken not to injure the young hair by too violent application of the restorative.

*— Rhubarb Jelly should be made when the leaves and stalks are well grown. Cut the stalks into lengths without peeling. To each pound allow a cup of water. Stew till a a perfect pulp, put through a cheesecloth bag. Boil the juice twenty minutes after it, allow a pint of sugar to a pint of juice, and when the sugar is disolved, let it reach the boiling point, then turn into glasses. It will be a pale pink that is very pretty on the table.
