We should like to know when the Statistics of this settlement, which it was known had been completed at Christmas, are to be published. Upon inquiring some time ago, we were told that the police magistrate had written or intended to write to the Superintendent for permission (!) to make them public. The Wellington Spectator of January 10th gives the Statistics for that settlement and the coast for the year 1845 : and what earthly reason can exist for the suppression of ours ? We invite the magistrates, now that they have a precedent before them, to delay no longer the publication of this useful information. Of course our columns will be open for the purpose.
