The Petition to Parliament, which was printed at the end of last year, has now J been properly engrossed, and forwarded to Wellington by the Mary Catharine, with the Kelson signatures attached. The Wellington and Taranaki signature-sheets are ! ready, and will be forthwith joined, so as to despatch the Petition complete by the brig Nelson on the 15th instant. The signatures from this place are 608 ; of the remaining adult male population of the settlement many would have signed but for their distance from town or from the places appointed for signature. We are not aware how many signatures were attached at Wellington, but shall most likely be informed by the next vessel. The Taranaki signatures amounted to about 140. The Petition, which is engrossed on drawing paper 26 inches wide, measures in length 50 feet, and a3 the signatures when joined together will measure ot least 36 feet more, the whole will form a i - 01l nearly 90 feet long.
