EARTHQUAKES IN TURKEY
TOWN A HEAP OF RUBBLE 10,000 PERSONS HOMELESS London, Dec., 22. Ten thousand persons are reported to have been rendered homeless by earthquake shocks which for a month hav% rocked the Turkish province of Van, says Reuter’s Istanbul correspondent. The town of Van is said to be almost a heap of rubble. Two thousand houses collapsed but casualties were not heavy. 100 HOUSES DESTROYED IN PORTUGAL Lisbon, Dec., 22. A violent cyclone followed by an earthquake destroyed 100 houses and many factories in the Ophao district of southern Portugal. Three persons were killed.
