UNMARRIED MOTHERS
BRITISH SYSTEM OF STATE CARE REVEALED London, Nov. 29. Unmarried mothers and babies have been cared for by the State for the last 2-jr years without the public knowing the secret. The Health Department has now released the story of its system whereby a number of residential homes take in unmarried mothers and provide pre-natal and ante-natal care for mothers and children. The mothers, who enter as “Miss Somebody,” are permitted to change their names by deed poll to “Mrs Somebody Else.” The babies are registered under the new names. The matron of one hospital told the “Daily Mail” that the homes were run on enlightened lines. The mothers did housework, were taught the care of children, could have visitors and invite their parents to stay overnighh
