JUDGING OF COMPETITIONS LOWER MOUTERE SCHOOL SHOW A most successful and enjoyable day was spent recently at .the Lower Mou- | tcrc School when show day was held. > The weather was fine and there was a very good attendance of parents ' and fr'ends. The show attracted many entries and junior and senior committees spent a busy day arranging entries etc. The judging started shortly after 10 a.m. and continued until the grand parade which took place at 3 p.m. Judges for the various exhibits, were as follows:—Pets, Mrs E. Mcßrydie; calves and yearlings, Mrs D. W. Dron, assisted by Miss A. Woodly; poultry, Mr H. A. Cook; lambs, Mrs A. Canton. The president of the Lower Moutere Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural Club, Mr A. E. Lindup, took the opportunity during the day to thank all those who had helped to ensure the success of the show. He paid a special tribute to the judges. At the request of the president, Mr Harford, president of the Waimea Boys’ and Girls’ Agricultural '‘Clubs’ Association, spoke to the gathering. He congratulated the children and the junior committee and urged those who had not won to try again next year. He thanked the club for the invitation it had extended to him and said how glad he was to be present. In his opinion the entries were excellent and he felt sure they would meet with some success at Richmond. He mentioned too the fine work put in by Mr V. Liddicoat, the leader 'organiser of the show. There were short speeches by Beverley Handcock for the junicr committee, Master Harford, representing the Appleby junior committee, and the judges, after which Mrs Harford presented certificates to the winners in each class. A refreshing afternoon tea was later served by Mrs Liddicoat, Miss Wright and helpers. Prizewinners are as follows: — Fowls, heavy utility: M. CorrieJohnston 1, Lorna Krammer 2, Lorna K-ammer 3. WAKEFIELD SCHOOL CALF CLUB Judging of calves owned by members of the Wakefield School Calf Club took place in the school grounds last Saturday. The judge was Mr Jellyman, Belgrove. Results were:— Care and handling of calves: Margaret Lines 1, Graham Lines 2. John Taylor 3, Mark Wendleborn 4, Roger Eden 5, Harold Nuttall 6. Grade light breed (calf): Alan Eden 1, Graham Berkett 2, Brian Pope 3, Basel Biggs 4, Barry Houston 5, David Nuttall 6.
