ALLIED PRISONERS
PREPARATIONS FOR EVACUATION New Yhrk, Aug. 28. The Associated Press of America says Japanese are preparing 6125 Allied prisoners and 94 civilians near Atsugi airfield for aerial evacuation on 30th August. Four hundred are hospital cases. Tokio radio states prisoners and internees in Japan are refusing to obey the camp authorities. The Japanese Government has informed General MacArthur, urging him to order Allied Iroops to maintain order. The Government asserted untoward incidents might happen if they obtained arms and ammunition. Japanese reported that Kobe prisoners had refused since 19th August to listen to the orders of the camp authorities and ran away. Small groups broke into storehouses and stole canned foods and beer, entered civilian homes and annoyed women and girls. Osaka camp has also fallen into a state of confusion. The Japanese declare that their views are shared by representatives of protecting Powers.
