ALLEGED CONFESSION
FORMER COMMANDANT OF BELSEN (Roc. 9.45 a.m.) London, August. 6. The former commandant of the Belsen concentration camp, Josef Kramer, awaiting at Celle, signed a statement confessing to his war crimes, says Reuter's correspondent. The text cannot be disclosed at present because it might prejudice his trial, but it is stated on good authority that Kramer is involved in other war crimes apart from those at Bel.-en camp. The statement will be read at the Belsen trial. Kramer is in prison with 47 others with whom he will be jointly charged with ill-treating and causing the death of 20,000 persons. The trial is not likely to begin on the scheduled date. August 12th. More likely it will start early in September. The dossier is still in London.
