LAVAL’S STATEMENT DENIED

Washington, August 5. The Duke of Windsor denied Laval’s statement made at the Petain trial that he discussed the international situation with the Duke (then the Prince * of Wales) during the Abyssinian crisis. The Duke of Windsor authorised the British Embassy to state that although he met Laval at a social function at the British Embassy in Paris in September ,1935, it was untrue that any conversation on political matters took place.
