RELEASE OF NAVAL MEN

MINISTER EXPLAINS POINTS SYSTEM Wellington, Aug. 6 Details of the points system for the demobilisation of naval personnel released to-day by the Minister of DeRfhce, Mr Jones, show that officers and ratings with the greatest number of points will have the highest relative priority. A married man will receive eight points for his wife and for each child receiving an allowance. Three points will be allotted for each month of overseas service and one point for each month of home service. Where skilled men are required to maintain efficiency they will be maintained until they can be replaced by other skilled men. The Minister explained that the system of giving absolute priority to men over 41 years of age and men with four or more children would continue —P.A.
