TRIPLE SHOOTING AFFRAY

TRAGEDY IN HASTINGS Hastings, Aug. 3. In a triple shooting affray at noon to-day at his home in Hastings .William John Harvfey Hares, a crossing keeper, shot his wife, aged about 28 years, dead and then shot her younger sister, Miss Jean Smithy through the chest. Hares then shot himself through the head and died an hour later. Miss Smith was taken to hospital. The weapon used was an ordinary pea rifle. Fiye young children are left, the oldest being only eight years.—P.A.
