“ARSENIC AND OLD LACE”
REPERTORY THEATRE PLAYS TO FULL HOUSE Mirth and murder are a somewhat unusual combination, but as the plot of "Arsenic and Old Lace” unfolded itself to the audience at the Theatre Royal last evening, such an unorthodox theme was tbe least of the surprises in store for them. The benignly Victorian Brewster sisters, Abby and Martha (played by Mrs K. Moynihan and Mrs P. R. Parker) led the cast through comedy, thrills, surprises and drama to the final moment which was, in itself, an unusual and clever ending. Not an easy play to produce, it calls for considerable acting ability on the part of the whole cast, and the individual performances of all the players in this comedy of Joseph Kesselring’s maintained the high standard always achieved in Nelson ReDertory Theatre productions. Last night's full house made an appreciative audience. This highly entertaining comedy and the manner of its presentation should ensure further packed audiences to-night and to-morrow night at the Theatre Royal.
