ON THE LOAN FRONT
PARADE AND DISPLAY TO-MORROW
To-morrow at 2.30 p.m. there will be a parade of the primary school children and the % College Cadets, headed by the Nelson Garrison Band. The parade will march through the main streets of the city and finally halt opposite Buxtons Limited, wfotoe a gymnastic display will be given by the College boys. Choruses, too, will be sung by the children and a bright half-hour is assured ior all.. The public should not miss this op_ portunity of seeing their children’s effort for the Loan and should show their appreciation in a tangible way by making their investments to-mor-row.
The Post Offices and Banks will be open until 4 o’clock to receive subscriptions.
Nelson district will not get its quota of the Loan unless everyone does his or her full share now. “Come on, Nelson, we have not failed yet,” says the Loan Committee. Union Support for the Loan
The Nelson Timber Workers’ Union has just invested £ 100 in the Loan. “Her e again we have the evidence that the unions are behind the Victory Loan,” said a committeeman this morning, “and th e example is* one the workers should follow.” An Army Officer’s Support It can now be revealed that the challenger to three other business men to invest £SOO in the Loan was Lieut.Col. F. W. Huggins. His agent, when making the investment yesterday, said: “I was pleased to see the challenge receive th e it incited. I hope the Colonel’s action will lead still more people to invest.” No Radio Appeal The National Loan Committee decided that there, should be no radio appeal this year for war loan subscriptions. The Nelson committee wants to make it clear that this should not stop people from investing. If they so desired their names and amount of subscription would be published.
It Depends on the People “In past loans large amounts were subscribed in the closing stages . . In the present case the big investments were made early in the campaign. All known subscriptions are included in ihe published figures. ~. . The Victory Loan stands or falls by whai New Zealanders invest between now and 16th June.” —The Minister of Finance (the Hon. W.
