CITY OF NELSON X'OTICE is hereby given that the Nelson City Council intends, at a meeting of the Council to be held in the City Council Chamber, Selwyn Place, Nelson, on Thursday, the 28th day of June. 1945. to make and levy the following rates for the period commencing on the first day of April, 1945. and ending on the 31st day of March, 1946:--1. A CONSOLIDATED RATE under section 96 of The Municipal Corporations Act. 1933 of three shillings and eightpence and nine-sixteenths of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (being the annual value) of all rateable property within the City of Nelson, such consolidated rate comprising and being in lieu of the following: (a) A General Rate under Section 77 of the Municipal Corporations Act. 1933, of two shillings and sixpence in the pound and (b) Special Rates (annually recurring) to provide for interest, sinking fund and other charges on the respective special loans as set out hereunder: I NAME OF LOAN AND AMOUNT OF RATE IN THE POUND I The Antecedent Liability portion of I the Electric Light and Antecedent Lia- [ bility Renewal Loan. 1939, two pence and five-sixteenths of a penny; The Rocks Road Renewal Loan. 1912, onefarthing; the Nelson City Conversion Loan, -1934. eight pence and seveneighths of a penny; the Land Purchase Loan. 1936. one half-penny; The Water Supply Loan. 1937, one penny and fiveeighths of a penny: the Cemetery Loan, 1942. one-eighth of a penny; The Refuse Disposal Loan, 1943, three-sixteenths of a penny; the Cemetery Loan. No. 2, 1943 one sixteenth of a penny; the Crematorium Loan, 1943, five-eighths of a penny. 2. A HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID RATE under Section 52 of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act. 1926. of one shilling and one penny and five-eighths df a penny in the pound on the rateable value (being the annual value) of all rateable property within the City of Nelson. 3. A rate to be made by direction of the Nelson Harbour Board under Section 85 of the Harbours Act. 1923, to provide for interest and Sinking fund and other charges on the Harbour Improvement Redemption Loan, 1932, No. 1, and the Harbour Improvement Redemption Loan, 1932. No. 2, of threepence and one-seventh of a penny in the pound on the rateable value (being the annual value) of all rateable property in the City of Nelson. 4. The following rates to be made | and levied by direction of the Neison j Catchment Board under Section 96 of the Soil Conservation and Rivers Con- ; trol Act, 1941, that is to say: (a) An administrative Rate of one penny and one half penny in tne pound, and I (b) An Afforestation and Forest Conservation Rate of three • pence in the pound on the rateable value (being the annual value) of all rateable property in the City of Nelson. 5. A WATER RATE under Section 82 of The Municipal Corporations, 1933, as follows: (a) In respect of the ordinary supply to all lands and dwellinghouses in the City of Nelson to which water is supplied: (1) Where the annual rateable value does not exceed £l2 10s. 3 rate of ten shillings; (2) Where such value exceeds £l2 10s a rate of 4£ per centum of the rateable value. (b) Tn respect of the ordinary supply to buildings (other than dwelling-houses) to which water is supplied, and in respect of all lands and buildings to which water can be. but is not. supplied situate within one hundred yards from any part of the waterworks : (1) Where the annual rateable value does not exceed £l2 10s, a rate of five shillings: (2) Where such value exceeds £l2 10s a rale of 2\ per centum of the rateable value. 6. A Uniform Annual Fee of twelve shillings and sixpence under Section 90 of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1933 (in respect of the removal of refuse), upon all such properties within the City of Nelson as have a building erected thereon and in the case of a building that contains separate apartI ments in respect of each srparatelyI occupied portion of the building, such fee to be payable only in respect of | buildings from which the Council is. i prepared to remove all refuse. ALL of the above rates will become payable at the Town Clerk’s Office, I Trafalgar street. Nelson, in one sum, on the 24th day of July, 1945.
