TWO-DAY SHOW

A. AND P. ASSOCIATION EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE’S DECISION The Nelson Agricultural and Pastoral Association will hold a twoday show on the Richmond showgrounds this year. The executive committee, at its monthly meeting on Saturday evening decided that the show would be held on Friday and Saturday, the 23rd and 24th November. Those present were Messrs L. A. Higgins (president), A. G. Griffin (vicepresident). G. W. Best. R. H. Hammond. M. Rogers. M. A. Blackmore, A. N. Harford, J. T. Baigent, J. P Shuttleworth, E. Springer, A Newman, A. H. Challies. W. Cook! C. R. Sutton, F. R. Berryman, A. J. Croucher, P. S. Haycock. N. L. Kerr. P. C. Hurst. L P. Russ. A. N. Wilkinson, W. Martin, and M. H. McGlashen. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs J. G. Ingram, G. W. Wilkes. D. S. Max, J. L. Borlase. New members were elected as follows: R. D. Kerr (Richmond R.D.). Fergus O’Connor (Appleby), A. E. Field (Richmond), R. G. Millen (Bank of N.Z. Nelson). The secretary of the N.Z. Meat Producers’ Board wrote regarding the election of members to the board. Mr Hurst stated that it was not generally known in Nelson that the manager for the board in London is an old Nelson boy—Mr S. Chisholm. Mr Chisholm had visited Nelson recently prior to leaving for London to take up his new position. The secretary (Mr T. H. Robinson) reported that the showground would be vacated by the military authorities in the near future. A committee was appointed to meet the Army authorities to look over the grounds prior to their being vacated. ANNUAL RAM 'FAIR The next Ram Fair was discussed at great length. For several years past these sales have been conducted by the association and it was considered that considerable improvements could be effected. The following committee was elected to make preliminary arrangements for the next fair: the president, Messrs Blackmore, Sfluttleworth, Newman, Borlase. Springer, Challies. Sutton and Hildyard. PASTURE COMPETITION A discussion also took place on the Pasture Competition, and members were unanimous that prograss could be made. A committee consisting of the secretary. Messrs Blackmore, and Griffin was appointed to diiHss the matter with Mr Merry, Fields Instructor of the Agricultural Department and report to the next meeting FAT LAMB COMPETITION Mr J. T. Baigent suggested various improvements in the judging system at the Fat Lamb Competition. He suggested that farmers who grew lambs should be given a chance to judge the lambs on the hoof. The idea was supported by Mr C. R. Sutton. Mr Hurst suggested that the present W£s an opportune time to appoint the Fat Lamb Committee. Other members agreed and Messrs Sutton, Challies, Dron,- Baigent and Springer were appointed a committee to draw up a report for the next meeting. * It was resolved that the president, Messrs Wilkes and Croucher wait on the Borough Cf#:icil to ask that Lower Queen street, as far as the showground gate, be sealed as soon as circumstances permit.
