AUSTRALIANS ON BUIN ROAD
ADVANCF OF ONE MILE Melbourne, June 7 Supported by heavy artillery barrages and tanks, Australian troops on southern Bougainville advanced a further mile along the hard-fought Buin Road They are now within a few hundred yards of Hari River, in rich garden areas of the Japanese. There has been no sign so far of a desperate stand by the enemjato defend what was designed to be his supply base for the whole of the Solomons. In New Guinea on Tuesday 80 additional Japanese were killed in sharp clashes in the Wewak sector
