PROVISIONAL GOVERNMENT

FORMED IN AUSTRIA London, April 29. Moscow radio says a provisional government has been formed in Austria headed by Dr. Karl Renner, aged 75, Social Democrat and former Chancellor, and the last president of the Free National Council of the Austrian Republic, which was suppressed by the Germans in 1938. Dr. Renner headed the Austrian peace delegation in 1919. Members of the Cabinet include Ministers who are members of no party, Christian Socialists and Communists. The Russian News Agency says the Austrian Provisional Government was the outcome of a meeting of Vienna leaders of all anti-Fascist parties and public men. They issued a joint com. munique announcing the formation of a Government, reporting that the aim of the Government is the restoration of an independent republic. The News Agency adds that Austria was reminded, however, that she cannot evade her responsibility for participating in the war on the side of Germany.
