SPRING GROVE SCHOOL

CENTENARY CELEBRATIONS Antipathy to long speeches was expressed by several present at the meeting of the committee which is arranging the programme for the celebration of the Spring Grove School Centenary. The Chairman (Mr H. Hill) suggested that monotony might be avoid*ed if the matters to be dealt with were divided into several “talks” somewhat similar to those which may be heard in the feature “These Served Mankind” from 2YA. Thus the teachers and school committee men of the last century would provide subjects for several three-minute talks by different speakers. In reply to a suggestion that it would be difficult to obtain speakers it was pointed out the choice of speakers need not necessarily be confined to old pupils but that facts supplied by the historical committee could be placed before the audience by any available speaker. It was decided to adopt this suggestion as far as it was practicable.
