TAX TRANSFER PREDICTED Opotiki, April 19. The transference of the national security tax to the social security tax was foreshadowed by Mr F. He added that amendments to the Social Security Act would probably increase the expenditure under it to £31.000,000 a year. Some of the suggested amendments outlined by the speaker were: A minimum family income; increased age benefits: revision of the family allowance. with probably the payment of 5s a week to those outside the existing benefits, irrespective of incolnc; and an allowance of £1 weekly to every mother.
