Mr and Mrs J A. Fraser. Mahana. received word yesterday that their two sons. John and Donald, who have been prisoners of war in Germany for about three and a half years, have landed safely in London. The cable says they are fit and happy. The two brothers went to camp together, were captured together at Tobruk and have been together ever since.
Bishop F. Houghton, director of the China Inland Mission, and Mrs Houghton are at present staying at Nelson
The appointment of Mr Elvin Seibert as second secretary of the Legation and consul of the United States in Wellington has been gazetted.
Lieutenant-Colonel G. J. O. Stewart has been promoted temporary colonel and appointed commander of artillery, 2nd New Zealand Division, vice Brigadier R. C. Querco, according to the Gazette
Yesterday afternoon Their Excellencies. the Governor-General and Lady Newall, received Mrs E. Robinson, widow of Mr W. F. Robinson, to whom His Excellency presented the D.F.C. awarded to her son. the late Pilot Officer C. H. Robinson. Royal New Zealand Air Force.
Mrs R. L. May. Wakatu, has received official advice that her husband Pte. John Milne May. previously a prisoner of war in Germany, is now “safe in Allied hands on the Continent.
