U-BOAT EFFORT IN MARCH

FEWER SUCCESSES OBTAINED - London, April 9. The ene ny’s U-boat effort in March continued to increase, but fewer successes were obtained against our shipping than in February. Casualties inflicted against U-boats in March were again severe, says a joint statement regarding U-boat warfare, issued under the authority of Mr Churchill and President Roosevelt. It adds: “The Allies’ prolonged and intensive bombing and minelaying policy has undoubtedly delayed the introduction of new types of U-boats. The Red Army’s capture of Danzig Bay has similarly helped to cut off the evil at its source.”
