FIGHTING SERVICES CLUB

WEEK-END ACTIVITIES The visit on Sunday evening of the Rhythm Boys’ Orchestra was the highlight of the week-end at the Fighting Services Club. These popular players provided a programme of up-to-date dance music which was greatly enjoyed by the many servicemen and their partners who were present. Music for the usual Saturday night dance was supplied by Miss Joan Godbaz and there was also a good attendance of members of all branches of the armed services. Hot meals were served at the club on Saturday evening, Sunday midday and on Sunday qvening, when over 100 servicemen were at the club for tea. Members of the Happiness Club assisted in preparing and serving luncheon on Sunday. Greatly appreciated gifts received at the week-end were a quantity of fruit and vegetables from the Methodist Church Bible Class camp, and a case of tomatoes from the Cawthron Institute.
