Chinese gooseberries and cape gooseberries have both been placed to advantage, whilst quinces, grapes and tomatoes have advanced in value. Mushrooms and blackberries have been keenly sought whilst all citrus fruit and tree tomatoes have commanded a ready sale. Flbwer sales have o«ce again been well attended, asters and chrysanthemums predominating, both selling at high rates. All varieties of vegetables have also been placed readily, cauliflowers, choice beans and peas, cucumbers and kumeras all being in demand. Since the Easter sales small supplies of all poultry have come to hand, values for prime birds showing an advancement. Cockerels, pullets and young ducks have an been in demand. Quotations are: peaches, 12s 2d; passion fruit. 12s 6d to 24s 6d; Chinese gooseberries 21s 6d to 375; tree tomatoes 18s to 31s; tomatoes, 5s to 10s 6d (an half-case); quinces, 17s 6d to 22s 6d (2 case); blackberries, Is to Is 6d; mushrooms, 2s to 4s; grapes (hot house), Is 8d to 2s 8d lb; Meyer lemons and oranges beetroot 9s to 15s; beans (according to quality), 7s to 31s; cauliflowers, 8s to 12s; celery, 14s to 20s; spinach, 5s to 8s 6d; cucumbers, 17s to 27s 6d; leeks, 7s to 12s 6d; lettuce, 5s to 11s; rhubarb, 8s to 15s (all case); parsnips, kumeras, swedes, all ceiling price; pumpkins, 7s to 12s sack; peas, 5d to Is lb. Poultry: cockerels (best), 6s to 10s; (others), 3s to 5s 6d, pullets, 9s to 13s; hens (heavy), 5s to 9s; (W.L.), 2s 6d to 4s 6d; roosters, 2s 6d to ss; ducks (your.g Pekin), 7s to 10s 3d (old), 4s to 5s 6d; (Khaki Campbell), 5s to 9s (old), 2s 6d to 4s; (Muscovey), 5s to 8s; geese, 6s to 9s (all each); turkeys, Is 4d to Is lOd lb.
