100 TONS OF GOLD

REICHSBANK’S RESERVE DISCOVERY IN SALT MINE HOLE BLOWN THROUGH BRICK WALL London, Apl. 9. Third Array engineers blew a hoi e through a brick wall in the Merkers salt mine revealing 100 tons of Reichsbank gold, says a British United Press correspondent. A Reichsbank official, Werner Vieck who superintended the sealing up of the bullion, was present when it was reopened. “I am convinced that is all the Reichsbank gold,” he said. The correspondent, who personally examined the treasure, describes row after row of grey sacks like flour bags each containing two gold bricks of 20 to 501bs. There was also row upon row of sacks containing both metal and paper currency from various countries.
