442,483 CASES HARVESTED Jonathan and Delicious apples are the main varieties being picked at present but a start has been made on Sturmers which will soon be coming forward in large supply. The Jonathan and Delicious crops are so far below the totals at the corresponding date for 1944. the figures (with comparative totals in parentheses) being: Jonathan, 115,759 cases (162,401); Delicious, 98,682 cases (111,660). The total apple crop harvested to date amounts to 392,484 cases (last year 466,187); and pears 49,999 cases (46,313). The district totals to date ar e as follows: Nelson, 118,745 cases of apples and pears; Mapua, 178,975 cases; Motueka, 154,763 cases; total, 442.483 (against 512,500 last year).
