STRAYING STOCK

[To the Editor] Sir, —For years now residents in various parts of this city have been pestered with straying stock, yet apparently the officials take no action. If my information is correct, it is necessary for Council’s to provide a suitable place for the impounding of stock. Provided this is right, why have our City Council neglected to provide such an

enclosure? From time to time residents are asked to tidy their frontages, and it is poor encouragement to have them and their property damaged by

straying stock, when more stringent measures would abate the nuisance.— I am, etc., A SUFFERER. Nelson, 6th April.
