MOVE BY ROOSEVELT New York. Aug. 15 One of the first important moves President Roosevelt will make after his return to Washington will be to press for early legislation establishing a permanent policy of compulsory military training for all young men in their late teens, says the New York “Herald Tribune’s” Washington correspondent It is understood that President Roosevelt studied suggestions for the bill while in the Pacific. Some believe the President may be planning the step as a bold political move. Put others feel Mr Dewey would also endorse such legislation. Popular opinion polls indicate that a large majority of Americans favour the step.
