; X.Z. DIRECTOR RELEASED Rugby, April 16. The New’ Zealand Government has asked for the release of Mr H. E. Davis, director of the Milk Products Division of the Ministry of Food, whom it seconded to the Ministry st the outbreak of war. The Minister has agreed to release Mr Davis.—B.O.W. Commenting on the announcement the Minister of Marketing (the Hon. B. Roberts) said that a request had been ! made that Mr T .'.vis might revert to the New Zealand Government if he could be spared from the Ministry of Food. Mr Roberts recalled that, upon the outbreak of war, the United Kingdom Government had requested that the senior officers of the Export Division of the New Zealand Marketing Department in London (Messrs Davis and J. W. Rodden). together with a considerable proportion of their staff, should be seconded to the United Kingdom Ministry of Food. The New Zealand Government readily agreed, and Mr Davis was appointed by, the United Kingdo- Government as Director of Milk Products ,and Mr Rodden as Deputy Director. "It is now possible,” Mr Roberts ! added, "to arrange that Mr Davis be returned to the service of the New Zealand Government, and he has resumed his position as London manager of : the Marketing Department.
