FRENCH PASS W.D.F.U.
A meeting of the French Pass branch of the W.D.F.U. was held at French Pass recently. Owing to bad weather conditions the attendance *was small, six membe:-. being present and one visitor. Apologies were received from Mrs Harold Hope and Mrs R. Webber. Correspondence included letters of thanks from boys overseas who had received parcels, and advice from Mrs Whitwell. Provincial Secretary, concerning the engagement of a dressmaker for this district. It was decided on the motion of Mrs W. Webber and Mrs T. Wells, that the president be asked to arrange for funds to provide parcels for soldiers. It was also resolved (Mrs Kawharu, seconded by Mrs W. Webber) that Mrs G. Wells be asked to act as secretary until next meeting. It was suggested that in future meetings be held in the school room at French Pass. The roll call “Kitchen Quiz,” conducted by Mrs Kawharu was very instructive and brought forth a good response. The meeting closed with the singing of the N.Z. Anthem. A vote of thanks was given to Mr and Mrs W. Webber for their hospitality.
