OBITUARY
*IR GEORGE WHITE Mr George White, of St. Vincent street, Nelson, who died last week, was a son of Mr and Mrs Charles White, of Onamalufu, Marlborough, and was born at Koromiko just over 65 years ago. After a perjod at school in Marlborough, he attended the Bishop’s School in Nelson. Returning home he worked some years at his father’s sawmill at Onamalutu. Later he farmed near Blenheim. In 1908, owing to Mrs Whites indifferent health, the couple came to reside in Nelson. For a number of years Mr White was employed by Messrs J. H. Cock and Co., and for the last few years had lived more or less m retirement. In 1902 Mr White married Miss Mafi3la Hammond, of Fairhall, Blenheim, and there are two sons of the marriage, Leslie (Nelson) and Gerald (overseas), n 1934 his wife died and some years later he t married Miss Bardsley of Dunedin The late Mr White was a staunch member of the Methodist Church. For many years he was a trus tee of St. John’s. Nelson, and held different offices in connection with the church As a tribute to the life of Mr White a service of remembrance was held in the Nelson South Methodist Church on Sunday evening The Rev J. W. Bayliss conduced e**® cervice.
