Sergeant J. R. Corston. of Auckland, has been appointed to the position of police sergeant at Nelson in succession to Sergeant T. Matthew’s. Corporal D. J. Gibbs, who was a prisoner of war in Italy, escaped to Switzerland at the time of Italy’s capitulation. He has now’ advised his mother. Mi's M. Gibbs, of Mount Street, Nelson, that he is fit’and well and is attending dti educational course in Switzerland. Mr nncl Mrs Hounsell have received a cable from their son. Robert, in the Middle East, stating that he is fit anwell.
