ANOTHER SHIP LAUNCHED

Auckland, Mar 10 The seventh Fairmile motor patrol vessel to be built in Auckland for the Royal New Zealand Navy was launched from the yards of Charles Bailey and Son in Freeman’s Bay bv Mrs A S Sutherland, wife of the chairman of the Auckland Harbour Board.

Used extensively round the English coast for the protection of shipping, the Fairmile class is 112 ft long, with a beam of 18ft. The latest vessel was built in five months, compared with the eight months needed for the first of the type They are powered by two 650 horsepower motor engines. The other three firms engaged in their construction in Auckland are Associated Boatbuilders. Limited, P. Vos, Limited, and Shipbuilders, Limited.—P.A.
