HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
ADDRESS-IN-REPLY DEBATE THREE BILLS INTRODUCED (From Our Parliamentary Reporter) Wellington, This Day. The House of Representatives resumed last night and the only speakers in the Address-in-Reply debate were the Minister of Social Security, Mr Parry, and the Prime Minister, Mr Fraser,
who spoke for nearly an hour and a half. The general opinion w r as that Mr Fraser’s would be the last speech, except for that of the mover of the address. Mr C. W. Boswell (Government, Bay of Islands).
When the Prime Minister sat down, however, Mr F. W. Schramm (Government. Auckland East) rose, and it was also indicated that Mr Atmore (Independent. Nelson) wished to speak. A question was then raised as to whether the House should sit beyond the usual time, and on the motion of Mr Schramm, an adjournment was tak£n until 2.30 to-day.
There were numerous questions last night and three Bills were introduced, one to amalgamate the Housing Construction and Public Works Departments under the Ministei of Works, another to protect the rights of patentees in wartime, and a third to adjuat tax anomalies.
